The principle of the Doughnut Sort was designed by Charles Handy (2002) to support organisations to become good at achieving outcomes and organising their main resource, which in the majority of cases, is the people that work within the organisation.
Following the Doughnut Sort creates a clear sense of each person’s role, responsibility and purpose within the organisation or the community of people who are working together to achieve a common goal.
The Doughnut Sort has been utilised within the context of community, health and social care as a way to identify and define the roles and core responsibilities of all the people involved in the care and support a person receives.
