Supporting people to feel hopeful, identify their own purpose and confidently take action

Person Centred Planning Facilitation Training

Our team at Imagineer have many years of collective experience in facilitating Person Centred Planning as a structured process, and we are able to offer training for others to develop their skills and understanding in order to take this practice into their own work setting.

This practical course is designed as a full programme which will give you the underpinning knowledge and skills to facilitate Person Centred Plans.

The training combines the approaches of Graphic Facilitation and Coproduction to work with a focus person and the Circle of Support around them to create a visual and aspirational plan with a stong emphasis on a good life and relationships rooted in community; which can feed into EHCPs, Support Planning, Hospital Discharge process and transition from Children and Young Peoples services to Adult support settings. Person Centred Planning is also useful as a process for team meetings, strategy and vision setting.

The approach is rooted in the planning styles of the early pioneers of Person Centred Planning: Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forest, Judith Snow, Beth Mount, Michael Smull , Lynda Kahn, John and Connie O’Brien, and later approaches for group planning (Big Plans) developed by Heather Simmons and colleagues at Thistle Foundation.

In the training, we will cover the common planning styles including:

  • MAP
  • PATH
  • Essential Lifestyle Planning
  • Personal Futures Planning
  • Big Plans

We will also cover common desktop planning tools such as:

  • Working/Not working
  • Good Day/Bad Day
  • One Page Profile
  • Appreciation poster
  • Important to/Important for
  • Communication Map

Learners should expect to have their own Person Centred Plan facilitated as part of the experience of becoming a facilitator.

The training can be commissioned as a consortium with other organisations or as a whole organisational commission.

We require a minimum of 6 attendees per course. Please book a minimum of 8 weeks in advance. Invoice to be paid in advance of delivery.
